Lifestyle : 10 Mind-Bending TV Shows You Can’t Tear Your Eyes Away From

Sometimes, even supposedly high-quality TV shows can turn out to be predictable and boring, with every new episode seemingly identical to the last. Yet what we all really want from a good serial is surprises, unexpected twists and turns, and superb acting that will keep us glued to the screen for days on end.
That’s why we have put together a list of the best TV shows out there, just for you. We’re certain that each and every one will transfix you from the first scene.
Carnivàle

America, 1934, the northwest. 18-year-old outlaw Ben Hawkins takes refuge in a traveling circus called Carnivàle. The circus troop includes the gypsy girl Sofie who reads tarot cards, her paralyzed mother who possesses the power of telekinesis, the blind professor Lodz who can read people’s thoughts, a bearded woman called Lila, the conjoined twins, the snake charmer Ruthie, the dwarf supervisor Samson, and the circus’s owner, who has certain plans in mind for Ben.
Wild Palms

Los Angeles in the future. Harry Wyckoff works for a TV channel that intends to install virtual reality technology in every home in America and the rest of the world. It will transform ordinary television broadcasts into three-dimensional holographic projections. Harry has made a successful career in this endeavor and enjoys both wealth and power. But it turns out that he is, in fact, caught up in bloody intrigues and uses mind-altering drugs.

Humans

The plot of this TV show takes place in a parallel universe where a new kind of technology has become universally popular — advanced robot servants that are outwardly virtually identical to human beings. One such "domestic helper" is acquired by a suburban family. Soon, they realize that deciding to live with a machine has terrifying consequences.

Fringe

Olivia Dunham, an FBI agent, has to work with scientists to investigate special criminal cases that human knowledge cannot yet fully explain. With every new season, the plot of this show gets thicker and thicker, jolting the viewer around with new twists. Parallel universes, glitches in the matrix, and constant intrigue can all be found here in abundance.

Sense8

The directors of Sense8 are the same as those who made the groundbreaking Matrix trilogy. Here the Wachowski duo tells another intriguing and highly complex story. A group of people living in different countries is somehow mentally connected to each other. They are soon targeted by those who view this unusual power as a threat to the world order.

The Booth at the End

This psychological thriller series tells the story of a mysterious individual who sits at a table in the corner of a diner and to whom people come to ask for help with realizing their dreams. The despairing father of a sick child, a woman who wants to be beautiful, an artist searching for inspiration — the man can grant any wish, but it always comes at a certain price. To achieve what they want, his petitioners must renounce their moral values.

Wayward Pines

Ethan Burke, a secret service agent, arrives in a small town in Idaho to look for two missing FBI agents. The more Burke tries to disentangle the mysterious web of events, the more strange it turns out to be. Why can’t anyone escape the town, what happened to the agents, and what past secrets is the town hiding?

The Leftovers

The action takes place among a group of people who make up what’s left of the community in a small town called Mapleton. They are forced to rebuild their lives after the sudden and mysterious disappearance of more than 100 million people. Those who remain try to make sense of what happened. Some search for God, others seek to do harm.
